J.K. Rowling, on Monday, found yet another opening for one of her favorite pastimes: slamming President Donald Trump on Twitter. Previously, the Harry Potter author had taken the Trump administration to task for the president's refusal to shake Angela Merkel's hand, for racist rhetoric by Trump staffers, and for the aggression of Trump supporters. Rowling has also notably tweeted about how Trump measures up against one of literature's worst villains. (Spoiler: She thinks Trump's worse.) This time though, Rowling isn't railing against a particular action taken by POTUS, but she is making it clear that she does not approve of the whole Trump family.

Rowling's opportunity arose when a tweet by a Harry Potter fan showed the Trump clan wearing green and silver, and calling Slytherin home. "Slytherin Alumni go far! CUT TO MONTAGE of Jared Kushner, Eric Trump, Donald Trump Jr," the tweet read. Rowling, who has admitted to spending a lot of time on Twitter when she's procrastinating, came across the tweet a mere 10 minutes later. In response, she shared her authorial certainty that, no, the Trumps are not Slytherin material. Why not? Because as long as Rowling is in charge, Donald Trump Jr., Eric Trump, Jared Kushner, et al. aren't ever getting within spitting distance of Hogwarts in the first place. No Hogwarts, no sorting hat, no problem.

Yes, while the Trump ilk might seem like a good match offhand, to go to Hogwarts (or, in the case of the American Trumps, Ilvermorny), you must first receive a letter of acceptance inviting you, and according to Rowling, the Trump family simply isn't up to wizardry snuff. And what Joanne says is law — at least in the wizarding world of Harry Potter.
