We (Maybe) Have Evidence That Charlie Puth and Hailee Steinfeld Are Dating

They've denied and denied that there's anything between them, but there's no denying that Charlie Puth and Meghan Trainor seriously made out on the American Music Awards stage during their performance of "Marvin Gaye" a few weeks ago. Whether you're Britney and Madonna, or Charlie and Meghan, locked lips are bound to make people talk for a while, and now the singers have to do overtime to remind people that, hey, friends can kiss, too!

And now it seems that Charlie has issued the final blow to the rumors that there's something more to that kiss. In an interview with USA Today, he admitted that "at first, we were like, 'Holy (expletive), what did we just do?' I have a girl kind of in my life right now that I'm not making too public and I don't want people to get the wrong idea." And while it might be weird to see your new boyfriend make out with his friend, there was the precedent that the duo already made out in the music video for the song, so it's not entirely uncharted territory. Plus, he says that "Meghan and I are good enough friends that we can laugh about it now."

Meanwhile, social media is already pointing to clues about who this mystery girl might be. There are few hints on his Instagram — we already looked — but let's be real here: Twitter faves tell no lies.

Hailee faved this tweet that mentioned her last name...which is not all that common, sure, but she was also not tagged in either that or the initial tweet. Plus, she faved this fan reply to Charlie's adoring tweet of her name alone. (Charlie's faved a number of tweets mentioning Haiz, too — and he wasn't tagged in any of them.)

Add to that the fact that they hung out the night of the AMAs? Yeah, we sense something is brewing.
