Planned Parenthood Dresses Made By High School Students

"The perfect way to support something we both strongly believed in."

The New York Times reported back in March that Donald Trump's budget proposal banned federal funding for Planned Parenthood.

As an institution advocating for women's rights and a provider of affordable, high-quality, reproductive healthcare, it's important now more than ever to stand up and show support for PP. High school students Karolina Montes and Zoe Balestri from the Bronx in New York City did just that with a pair of runway-ready looks that took the hashtag #IStandWithPP to the next level. The duo created dresses using pink Planned Parenthood stickers and condoms as fabric — and their powerful designs made a lasting impression. One of the silhouettes was a beautiful form-fitting mermaid dress, while the other was comprised of a matching set that included a crop top, a billowing skirt, and stilettos.

"We've been best friends since 6th grade," Zoe told Buzzfeed. "This year we thought after everything that's been happening in the world and with this country, it was important to make our dresses beautiful and fun but also to give them some sort of meaning. We decided this was the perfect way to support something we both strongly believed in."

These two certainly have a bright future in design; their innovative looks are not only stylish and pulled-together, but they also convey a powerful message. We're excited to see what Karolina and Zoe design next.
