You’ve probably seen the mocking Spongebob meme floating around the Internet from Tumblr to Twitter, and you’ve probably saved it to your phone to use when the moment is right. For one Texas high schooler, that mood was a math test, and the Spongebob meme actually got her extra credit.

16-year-old Maeve Lindell told BuzzFeed that she often doodles on her Algebra II homework and her teacher enjoys her pictures despite the fact that they aren’t, well, math.

During one recent test, Maeve drew the Mocking Spongebob at the bottom of the page, writing “Solve the following exponential and logarithmic equations” in the sticky caps that often accompany the photo. When her teacher returned the test, Maeve was very surprised with the results — she got seven extra credit points for the drawing. See? Memes do have a purpose off the Internet!

Her teacher, Jordan Marks, told BuzzFeed that it was the least he could do. “It's the end of the school year and she really deserved it," he said. Where was Mr. Marks to make us laugh in our algebra classes? Teacher goals for sure.

Maeve posted the test to Twitter, where it quickly went viral, because of course it did. WoUld U eXpEcT aNyThiNg LeSS?
