Carly Rae Jepsen Will Make You Break Your "No Holiday Music Before Thanksgiving" Rule

With a cover of an ‘80s classic.

Yes, we know, it's not even Thanksgiving yet, but Carly Rae Jepsen just seriously kicked off the holiday music season with an amazing cover of one of our favorite classics.

Carly put a new, but somehow also retro, spin on the 1985 Wham! tune “Last Christmas.” And though the original has a reputation for being kind of a downer — with lyrics like “Last Christmas, I gave you my heart. But the very next day, you gave it away,” — the only thing this cover is bringing us is joy.

Sure, the words are still a bit sad, but something about the "I Really Like You" singer’s vocals, the synths, and the sax is making us really feel the “most wonderful time of the year” vibes. The holiday tune has also been covered by some of our other favorite pop stars like Ariana Grande and Taylor Swift, so CRJ's definitely in good company.

Though many of us are anti-holiday music until Turkey Day is over and all the stuffing's been stuffed in our stomachs, we’re making a special exception and putting this on repeat.
