Watch BTS Perform "Dynamite," "Save ME" at NPR's Tiny Desk Concert

What a delight.

BTS performed their first-ever Tiny Desk concert this week and fans both new and old got to enjoy Bangtan Sonyeondan with a fun, live backing band.

The concert series often celebrates artists in a more intimate setting, and that was true in BTS's case as well. And it turns out the electric, energetic “Dynamite” still holds up even without the charming dance moves and detailed set pieces.

During the Tiny Desk concert, which was filmed from Korea instead of its traditional Washington, D.C setup to abide by COVID-19 precautions, BTS began with the funky “Dynamite" (complete with warm-toned ‘70s-inspired outfits to match). That segued into a live version of their 2016 hit “Save ME” — and the members couldn’t resist a little bit of dancing to the throwback hit.

“We all are wishing for the spring day to come,” Jungkook said, introducing their final number, her majesty “Spring Day." Before beginning the song, leader RM added, “It's been the roughest summer ever, but we know spring will come. So let's go together.” BTS have performed “Spring Day” relatively often over the past few months, but maybe because of the small setup, this version seemed to highlight more of the song's sweet piano melodies. The performance reminded everyone why it's commonly thought of as a major fan-favorite. As one fan put it, “Spring day live band version hurts more than anything else ever.”

BTS has a busy couple months ahead of them — along with the hoped-for release of member V's first solo mixtape (and if we're lucky, Jungkook's, too), the group has two “BTS MAP OF THE SOUL ON:E" concerts coming up in October and are gearing up to release their next album sometime before the end of 2020. Here's hoping for many more televised performances to come.
