I kind of describe my job as being a big brother to all of the girls we represent,” says 26-year-old Jeremy McClain, the assistant booker at mega agency Ford Models. “I do everything from making their hair appointments and scheduling their car service for bookings to arranging their test shoots and giving them pep talks on set when they’re feeling tired.” In short, Jeremy is the main point person for the beauties and plays a large role in the running of their professional lives.

His past experience as a part-time model (he’s been shot by Mario Sorrenti!) as well as college internships with stylist Patricia Field and fashion PR firm BPCM helped prepare Jeremy for his current position. “I graduated with a degree in marketing and just sort of fell into working at Ford,” notes the LIM College alum, who has also served as Galore Media’s digital director. “It’s gone really well, though. I was already interested in the other side of modeling, so it was a natural progression.”

Whether it’s attending Paris and Milan fashion weeks as a chaperone for underage models or spending the day at his desk looking through e-mails and doing administrative tasks, Jeremy’s duties are as varied as they are all-encompassing. “I’m mainly in the office, but you never know what will come up with this role,” he explains. “You have to be a team player and an on-your-feet thinker and have a lot of patience.”

The coolest part of interacting with the rulers of the runway? “I have a very close relationship with the girls—they’ll come over to my house for dinner and tell me about their boy problems,” he reveals excitedly. “I was an only child growing up, so this job gives me the little sisters that I never had.” Spoken like a true big bro.
