While Shaley Woodley is a major star, thanks in part to movies like The Fault In Our Stars and the Divergent series, there's always a lot more to your faves than meets the eye (or, uh, screen). In her most recent interview with Net-a-Porter, she opens up about everything from masturbation to politics in Hollywood, and gives fans a lot to think about in the process.

For one, she opens up about her family, whom she says is "super f*cked up in many ways, but they are also my everything." (She's always been extremely candid.) Her father was a psychologist and her mother a counselor, and often didn't separate work from home life, keeping a "revolving door policy" and allowing anybody who needed help to come and stay with them. "I came home to things that weren't great," she says, before noting that she's still very grateful for the way she was brought up. "They would do anything for me, and I would do anything for them. That's a lot more than most people can say about their families."

She went onto talk about why she believes masturbation is something that should be taught to young women in particular.

“As a young woman you don’t learn how to pleasure yourself, you don’t learn what an orgasm should be, you don’t learn that you should have feelings of satisfaction. I’ve always had a dream of making a book called There’s No Right Way to Masturbate," she said. (Side note: that's an amazing idea and we'd love to read it). When it comes to other important topics like politics, she finds herself frustrated trying to have conversations with other people in Hollywood, saying that because they are "so privileged" they "don't see the 99% of America, because they don't have to."

Shailene is a refreshingly honest, down-to-Earth voice in young Hollywood, and no matter what she's talking about, she's doing it with intellect and passion — and that's something to aspire to.
