The coolest beauty experiments always seem to happen when celebrities and their hairstylist BFFs get together. Take Sarah Potempa and Lea Michele, who've tried faux bangs, Rapunzel-status ponytails, and the prettiest braids together.
You probably know Sarah's name from her self-rotating Beachwaver and the endless tousled waves she's created for the Victoria's Secret Angels. But, Sarah happens to be a braid genius, too; just check out her Instagram feed for the proof. And when she's not prepping models for the VS runway, she's hanging with BFF actress Lea Michele and creating an optical-illusion ponytail we'll forever be trying to recreate.
When Lea arrived at an Armani event last night, she enlisted Sarah's help to create the ultimate updo. Sarah skipped the long, loose waves and sleek topknots Lea usually favors for something way more detailed. Starting with a simple high ponytail, Sarah quickly complicated things by braiding the length of Lea's pony into a loose three-strand braid, transforming it into a fishtail braid halfway through. Separating the different braids with a small section of wrapped hair (kind of like you would for a bubble ponytail), Sarah completed the look by going back to the three-strand braid. Basically, if you were torn between an updo and a braid for prom, this is the perfect compromise. You'll be guaranteed to turn heads all night long.
