Justine Skye is adding another title under her belt. After being tapped by H&M to collab with the brand on a capsule collection, the singer, songwriter, and actress can now also add “fashion designer” to her impressive résumé.

After a week of teasers, H&M and Justine’s collab is finally here and it is so Justine — think excessive prints, matching sets and nostalgic accessories. Justine worked alongside her stylist and creative director Ade Samuel to create a unique collection that is unlike anything H&M has done before. The capsule features streetwear emblazoned with cloud designs as a play on the singer’s last name as well as funky patterns like plaid that just “feel so Brooklyn,” per Justine herself. After all, the collection is inspired by her own persona. “It’s introducing to everyone who Justine Skye is and where I’m from,” Justine told Teen Vogue.

Apart from Justine-inspired motifs, the collection also four pieces stamped with “1995” — the singer’s birth year. 2019 has proven to be a nostalgic year in fashion and we’ve seen a resurgence of birth years on clothes so all ‘95 babies can get in on the fun. Justine has not only designed a cozy gray sweatsuit with a “1995” graphic, but also a color-block biker short set with the year written across the waistband. “I wanted it to have something that really related to [H&M’s] audience. I feel like a lot of people in my age range shop at H&M, so it's just something that they can automatically connect to,” Justine reveals. “When they walk in, they're like, ‘Oh my God. I was born in 1995, too. That's dope. I want to get that!’”

Justine admits it’s hard to choose her favorite item, but concedes the 1995 sweatsuit is actually one of her favorites. “I love sweats. I literally live in sweat pants so I wanted to make the perfect sweats that had the right amount of sag to it and comfort in the right shape so that it falls properly.” When creating the sweatsuit, she was inspired by an old photo of Princess Diana sporting a high collar sweater. And, I mean, could it get more iconic than that?

While she’s only just venturing into fashion design at 24 years old, Justine admits she’s always loved fashion. In fact, her first fashion memory dates back to when she was 17 and used to attend “Fashion Night Out “during fashion week. “I wore what I thought was my best outfit. It was cargo pants, a tank top from American Apparel, green lipstick, Ray-Bans, and a crown. I thought it was so cute just running around New York City,” Justine recalls of her past experiences. And while she dubs the memory “embarrassing,” she also admits that was her first realization as to what fashion week truly was. Fast forward seven years and now she has her first design collaboration.

The all-over prints present in the collection are very much intentional and an ode to Justine’s Jamaican roots. Born and raised in Brooklyn, the multi-hyphenate says her Caribbean influence is “embedded into her.” “Jamaicans, we love patterns and we love to wear all-over prints that match. A lot of dancehall queens and just Jamaican fashion in general, we love patterns and a matchy, matchy outfits. That’s where that came from for me.” If you love an array of prints or wearing cohesively matching looks from head to toe, then you need to shop this capsule. And, of course, if you’re a fan of Justine because each piece speaks to her personal style.

The 17-piece collection ranges from $4.99 to $54.99 and is available from today at hm.com. Shop Justine’s favorite sweatsuit, the cutest nostalgic accessories, and some of our favorites here:
