People reports the actor who played Sunshine Corazon on "Glee" has come out as transgender.

The 25-year-old singer deleted his previous posts on social media and changed his name to Jake Zyrus, coming out in posts on Twitter and Instagram. On Instagram, Jake simply changed his name and wrote a simple "thank you." On Twitter, Jake acknowledged the significance of that first post.

"My first tweet as Jake. Overwhelmed. Saw all your love comments and I'm so happy. Finally. I love you, everyone and see you soon," he wrote on Twitter.

Since the posts on Sunday, Jake has seemingly been enjoying being out. He has been posting thanks to his supporters, and wrote that he won't let anyone spoil his happiness.

"I won't let anyone ruin this moment. I won't let anyone ruin my happiness. Thank you to all the beautiful write ups about me," another tweet said.

Most of the comments on social media have been incredibly supportive of Jake's identity.

"Happy to see u living your story and your truth," one fan wrote.

"So proud of you for being true to who you are," another added.

While many people have flooded Jake's social media with support, not all reactions have been quite so positive. Refinery29 reports Esquire Philippines initially wrote an article making fun of Jake's identity. They have reportedly since apologized for the post, saying, "When Caitlyn Jenner stepped out into the world via a groundbreaking Vanity Fair cover, the words on that cover proclaimed simply: 'I am Caitlyn.'Jake Zyrus’ first tweet as Jake should have been received with the same gravity, but we did not recognize it for what it is: a strong statement about identity." Jake has accepted that apology, wishing "all the love" to the publication.

People points out that Jake told Oprah Winfrey three years ago that his "soul is male."

While no one owes an explanation of their identity, it's great that Jake feels comfortable sharing his and coming out publicly. Everyone should be able to live their truth, and it seems like that's exactly what Jake feels empowered to do.
