Because we know you love to see famous people break out their equally famous voices for a good old-fashioned karaoke session, Ariana Grande and Seth MacFarlane (you probably know him best for being the creator of Family Guy) are the latest duo to be featured on Apple Music's Carpool Karaoke: The Series.
As seen with Game of Thrones's Sophie Turner and Maisie Williams last week, the premise of the series is simple: Get two famous people in a car, and get them to sing their favorite songs to the best of their abilities. For Ari and Seth, that meant a duet of the ballad "Suddenly Seymour" from the horror-comedy musical Little Shop of Horrors. They slayed their rendition despite the cramped quarters — and a mysterious green plant growing in the back seat. Oh, and the car almost crashing.
“We almost died! But the belting was more important!” Ariana said at the song's conclusion. “I like that we didn’t skip a beat. That is what comes from being a theater person. You stay in it!”
Though the pairing may seem a little random, Ariana and Seth have actually been friends for many years now, bonding over their mutual love of Broadway. Seth has released a handful of studio jazz albums with his smooth baritone voice, which Ari took notice of on Twitter, and the duo previously had an impromptu show-tune karaoke session last summer. (Perhaps that's what inspired this Carpool Karaoke experience.)
To hype their appearance together, Ariana even tweeted out a silly message on social media, which Seth promptly retweeted: "When Seth low key crashed the car and kept belting."
