On Friday, May 26's episode of the Today show, Miley Cyrus treated us to a performance of a brand new song, Hello Giggles reports. The slow country tune "Inspired" has an uplifting message: that we have the power to make a difference in the world. And it's exactly what we've been needing to hear lately.

Miley recently came under fire for controversial remarks she made about her departure from hip-hop. This new country tune seems to further cement her musical "transition."

She starts off singing about the destruction of the environment and how issues like this can really get her down. The beat picks up as she describes the way her dad encourages her during these times.

"He somehow has a way of knowing what to say, so when I'm feeling sad, he makes me feel inspired," she sings. Then, she belts out the chorus: "Pull the handle on the door that opens up to change. I know that sounds so strange, cuz you've always felt so small. But know you aren't at all, and I hope you feel inspired." She also performed her songs "Malibu" and "We Can't Stop" and covered her godmom Dolly Parton's "Jolene."

We totally relate to how Miley feels: Just reading the news can be such a bummer. But hearing about how she gets through it really is leaving us inspired.
