Justin Bieber got his record deal, in part, because he was really, really pretty. According to L.A. Reid, one of the record executives that signed him, young Justin's feminine looks had an impact the second he walked in the room for their first meeting.

"This kid was beautiful, like a woman can be beautiful and men rarely are," Reid says in his new memoir Sing to Me. "He turned it on as soon as he stepped into the room."

So, yeah, gender is a social construct, but apparently that was a good thing for Justin in this instance. His shiny, long hair was also a major factor in the deal. Reid later writes that he "could see immediately that Justin's hair would be every bit as important as his songs, his voice his face, or his presence."

A person at the Huffington Post who appears to have read Sing to Me in its entirety said that Reid invokes Justin's looks a number of times in the book.

"Justin was simply beautiful," he adds later. "His superpower was his face."

Sing to Me is available on Amazon, if you are interested in further probing the allure of boy prettiness. This is truly lovely insight for both Justin and the lesbians that look like him.
