Less than a year after losing the election to now-President Donald Trump, Hillary Clinton is ready to tell her side of the story. Per the Washington Post, in September, Clinton will release a personal new memoir, What Happened, which promises "unprecedented candor" in recalling the buildup to Election Day and how she was defeated by President Trump. The book's publisher, Simon & Schuster, also states that her writings will be a “cautionary tale” about the Russian interference in the election and why that foreign meddling is a threat to democracy as we know it.

"In the past, for reasons I try to explain, I’ve often felt I had to be careful in public, like I was up on a wire without a net," Clinton wrote for the book's introduction. "Now I’m letting my guard down."

Clinton has slowly been opening up about losing the election in the months that have followed. While delivering a speech at Wellesley College earlier this summer, she didn't mince words when addressing the new presidential administration. "When people in power invent their own facts and attack those who question them, it can mark the beginning of the end of a free society," she said at the time. "That is not hyperbole, it is what authoritarian regimes throughout history have done ... They attempt to control reality."

A few weeks prior to that, she also spoke about why she believes she lost the election, putting some blame on a certain former FBI director. "It wasn't a perfect campaign, there is no such thing, but I was on the way to winning until a combination of Jim Comey's letter on October 28 and Russian WikiLeaks raised doubts in the minds of people who were inclined to vote for me but got scared off," she explained. "If the election had been on October 27, I would be your president."

Only time will tell what new revelations come to light when What Happened hits bookshelves.
