Janice Dickinson Speaks on Kendall Jenner and the Kardashians's Modeling Careers

"We had to work on our own merit."

Janice Dickinson was a guest on The Tomorrow Show on Monday night and she did not have very nice things to say about the Kardashian-Jenner clan — especially Kim and Kendall. Janice is the self-proclaimed “first Supermodel” who younger generations may know best from her larger-than-life, no-holds-barred attitude as a former judge on America’s Next Top Model. Knowing how outspoken she can be, her rant is not all that surprising, but it seems unnecessary and hurtful all the same.

She begins by speaking about the new class of girls, naming Lily-Rose Depp as a favorite, explaining, “I would consider Lily Rose Depp a real model.” In terms of other Janice considers for that authentic title, it seems as though she has respect for Ashley Graham as well. The former model states:

“I’ve got to give Ashley Graham credit, because there are so many beautiful large women out there, ya know? And beauty is in the eyes of the beholder, it really is…Ashley Graham doesn’t give a rat’s as what I think about her, but I think for her to make that cover, it’s a big stand for women all over the world. You know, of course that was photo retouched too, because they all are, but I think it was a major, major, major plus for plus size models and large women…I think it’s fantastic that she did that cover and that she gave so many women hope.”

Ok, ok, that’s a little back-handed as compliments go, but we’ll take it. Especially considering what she went on to say about others who did not escape her wrath so easily.

It gets worse, though, once the topic of the Jenner-Kardashian clans comes up. Janice speaks about Kim Kardashian West, specifically, saying:

“We had to work on our own merit…Kim Kardashian made the cover of Vogue which made, made me want to vomit it was crazy…They’re not models! They’re, they’re reality TV stars! You know modeling is extremely hard work. You have to have perfect proportions—uh, the Kardashians do not have couture proportion.”

She goes on to single out Kendall specifically, saying:

“I don’t know, I mean like the Kris Jenners, the Kims, the Kourtney Kardashians…I think Kendall is too vain, she probably just sits there and smokes a vape.”

Janice Dickinson's inflammatory statements are nothing new — but in this particular case, she's not alone in her line of thinking. Grace Coddington once admitted that Kendall and Gigi "annoyed" her at first. Calvin Klein (the designer) revealed he would not cast Kendall in a campaign if he was still in control of the CK brand. And viewers were in an uproar when Kendall Jenner got her wings at the 2016 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show.

In fact, there's been so much criticism directed toward Kendall that model veterans often speak out in her defense, from Cindy Crawford to Adriana Lima. Janice Dickinson is only the latest industry icon to join Kendall's chorus of critics, but we're sure the young supermodel is unbothered. She's too busy modeling, in a secret shoot with Ashley Graham to be exact.
