When you're a supermodel, you pick up a few tricks of the trade. At the American Music Awards this year, Gigi Hadid just taught us a cool new eyeshadow trick we're trying out immediately. Best described as "eye contouring," it's a simple technique that instantly elongates and accentuates your eyes, and we are so here for it.
If you zoom in on Gigi's lids, you'll notice that she's mainly wearing two shades of eyeshadow. The shimmery gold is concentrated toward the center of her lid, and along her lower lashline. Meanwhile, the matte brown hue is applied in an exaggerated wing that hugs her crease and outer corners. As any fan of regular contouring will know, placing a darker shade along recessed areas of your face will create instant depth. By combining this technique with the gold highlighting on her lid, Gigi made her eyes pop in the prettiest way. The final effect is a completely fresh take on the hazy, smoky eye — and it's right at home on the red carpet. She paired her eye contouring with cheek contouring (what else?) and a punchy, pink lip. We're also noticing that her mane has remained in its darker, bronde hue, which celeb hairstylist Bryce Scarlett teased back using the ghd Soft Curl Iron and Platinum Styler. Looks like our favorite supermodel is all about the deep shades these days!
